"The Angel", Nasir, the son-in-law of the President of Egypt, and Enver Sedat, his successor, who was both a private advisor and confidant to them, and also considered one of the most valuable informants of the Israeli secret service in the 20th century, Eşref Mervan's (Marwan Kenzari) real story. The film is based on Uri Bar-Joseph's book "The Angel: The Egyptian Spy Who Saved Israel", and the screenplay is written by David Arata, who was nominated for an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for the 2006 film "Son of Hope". Dutch actor Marwan Kenzari, who appeared in last year's Netflix film "Yedinci Hayat", takes on the lead role in the film. The film is directed by Israeli filmmaker Ariel Vromen, known for his films "The Iceman" (2012) and "Criminal" (2016), and also stars Toby Kebbell, Hannah Ware, Maisa Abd Elhadi, Sasson Gabay, Mickey Leon, Ori Pfeffer, and Slimane Daz.
