Marla Grayson (Rosamund Pike), an Academy Award-nominated actress, portrays a character with destructive self-confidence in the film. Marla is a professional court-appointed guardian who cunningly manipulates and legally exploits dozens of elderly individuals whose assets she takes control of. With the help of her partner and lover, Fran (Eiza González), Marla begins to leverage her power over Jennifer Peterson (Dianne Wiest), a woman she sees as a potential source of wealth and wants to prevent any rightful heirs from benefiting. However, when Marla's own equally significant secrets and connections to a gangster (Golden Globe winner Peter Dinklage) are exposed, she is forced to elevate her game in a cutthroat match that only hunters can play. The rules of this game do not require fairness or righteousness.
